The mission of the Civics and Outreach Committee shall be to:
- Serve as the single point of contact on civics education at the circuit level within the Sixth Circuit.
- Assess the level of civics education within the courts of the Sixth Circuit.
- Educate and heighten the awareness of judges within the Sixth Circuit on (1) the extent of the lack of knowledge of civics and the critical role and function of the federal judiciary in our democracy and (2) the necessity of addressing this issue.
- Engage the judges within the Sixth Circuit on the importance of civics education.
- Encourage the judges within the Sixth Circuit to become more active in civics education.
- Equip the judges within the Sixth Circuit to become effective advocates of civics education.
- Promote civics education within this circuit.
